The original Salisbury Cathedral was built within the old hillfort of Old Sarum, just north of the present city. It was eventually moved into the valley below. It is a superb piece of architecture with the highest spire in the country. There are some notable monuments, including those to the Longsword Earls of Salisbury and some very early bishops. St. Osmund's shrine has gone, but part of his tomb survives. The pictures on this page are cropped examples of images in our high resolution photo library. Please e-mail us for details of these or similar image availability at our very reasonable reproduction rates. Location release may be required for some photos. |
